Project Pelikan has started as a project at United Nations University (UNU), as a tool for researchers to implement their research and capacity development projects.It also serves as a repository for the documents of the projects, contributes to supporting a more effective dissemination of UNU’s generated knowledge (i.e. through integration with the UNU website); and further enable and all UNU staff members, to have access in a timely manner to the range and scope of all projects carried out throughout the University, focusing on the substantive/narrative element and basic ERP functions. Developing a tailor made, flexible system for such a diversified and spread-out community of researchers it made us realize the immense opportunity of a system like Pelikan in research and development: real-time responsiveness and collaboration, transparency, databases of information, impact assessment and possibilities to use data for strategic planning of your institution.
